Sarah Baeumler: The Designer Behind the Baeumler Empire Finally Gets Her Own Show

Sarah Baeumler has shaped the look of every Baeumler project from Bryan Inc. to a Bahamas resort. Now Rogers has handed her a first solo design series, Sarah Baeumler By Design.

Sarah Baeumler: The Designer Behind the Baeumler Empire Finally Gets Her Own Show

Sarah Baeumler is the design half of Canada’s most-watched renovation duo: the interiors, the palettes, and the aesthetic vision behind the Baeumler shows, while husband Bryan handles construction. And she’s about to step out front. On June 2, 2026, Rogers Sports & Media announced an exclusive multi-year deal with HGTV Canada that includes Sarah Baeumler By Design, her first solo design series, now in production.

It’s a notable shift. For a decade, Sarah’s name has shared a title card. The new deal, which also covers a working-title project called Baeumler Ranch and a Canadian edition of Home Town Takeover, puts her design work at the centre for the first time. If you’re tracking Canada’s most-searched interior designers, expect her numbers to climb.

What does Sarah Baeumler actually do on the Baeumler shows?

She runs the design side. As Palm Beach Illustrated put it in a November 2025 profile, the division of labour in the Baeumler partnership is clean: Sarah leads interior design and aesthetic vision, Bryan leads construction. That split has held across every series the couple has made together.

Her on-screen design career started with Bryan Inc., which ran on HGTV Canada for two seasons from September 2016 to April 2018. Sarah joined as the designer in season one, then took on the project manager role in season two. It was a useful apprenticeship in public: real budgets, real trades, real consequences when a finish didn’t land.

Then came the show that changed the family business. Island of Bryan premiered in 2019 and became HGTV Canada’s highest-rated series in over a decade after its first season. American viewers know it as Renovation Island, which aired on HGTV in the US from 2020 to 2022. The premise, a family gut-renovating an abandoned Bahamas resort, was Bryan’s kind of chaos. The reason the finished rooms photographed so well was Sarah.

The couple co-hosted Renovation, Inc. and, most recently, Building Baeumler, which premiered September 8, 2025. Its 10 episodes follow a Florida Keys hotel renovation, an expansion at the Bahamas resort, and a personal renovation back in Canada. Three projects, three climates, one consistent design hand.

Worth knowing: Sarah isn’t a design-school graduate, and she’s never pretended otherwise. She studied political science and English at Western University, graduating in 1999, and followed it with post-graduate work in international business, per her Palm Beach Illustrated interview. She trained in ballet and opened a dance studio in Ontario in the late 2000s before television came calling. The design credentials were earned on job sites, in front of cameras, one project at a time.

Caerula Mar Club: the resort that made her a designer to watch

Caerula Mar Club is Sarah Baeumler’s biggest design credit: a 10-acre boutique resort on South Andros in the Bahamas, where she led the interior design of the entire property. It soft-opened in late 2019, held its grand opening in March 2020, and then watched the world lock down within weeks.

The timing could have ended the project. Instead, the Baeumlers held on. Despite recurring rumours of a sale, the family still owns and operates the resort as of late 2025. After a seasonal pause, Caerula Mar reopened in fall 2025 with a new bakery, a chocolate program from Lusca Chocolates, and expanded concierge services, per Caribbean Journal‘s September 2025 coverage.

For design watchers, the resort matters because it’s a complete, walk-through-able portfolio piece. Television design is edited; a hotel isn’t. Every guest room, lounge, and outdoor space at Caerula Mar is Sarah’s work, holding up under daily use six years in. That’s a harder test than any reveal episode.

What is the Sarah Baeumler brand beyond television?

Off-screen, sarahbaeumler.com is the hub: an Ontario-made apothecary line, design services under the Refined Living banner, a subscription program called Sarah Delivered, and a digital magazine, Curated. Orders ship from a warehouse in Burlington, Ontario, which keeps the operation rooted in the province where the Baeumlers built their audience.

The apothecary focus is deliberate. Rather than chasing a furniture line, Sarah has built around the smaller, repeatable purchases that bring a design sensibility into a home: the things on the counter rather than the sofa under them. It’s a lower-risk lane, and a more personal one.

There’s a wellness thread too. According to Palm Beach Illustrated, she created the Prelude wellness line for the resort and has since relaunched it in the US, alongside a yoga business with four American locations. The through-line across all of it is the same calm, coastal-leaning sensibility she brought to South Andros.

What’s next: Sarah Baeumler By Design and the Rogers deal

The June 2, 2026 Rogers announcement laid out three projects. Sarah Baeumler By Design, her first solo series, is already in production. Baeumler Ranch, a working title, continues the family franchise. And Home Town Takeover Canada, which Sarah will host, shoots in summer 2026 for a 2027 broadcast.

The solo series is the one to watch. Canadian design television has produced plenty of contractor-led shows; designer-led ones with this scale of built-in audience are rarer. A decade of co-billing means Sarah arrives with name recognition most designers spend a career chasing, and a back catalogue, from Bryan Inc. to Caerula Mar, that proves the work behind the title.

The 416 Edit will review Sarah Baeumler By Design when it airs. Until then, our Designers section covers the people shaping how Canadian homes look right now.
